Dreaming in the name of love

Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure justice for those being crushed. Proverbs 31:8

On this day when we celebrate the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., I have gathered a few of my favorite quotes from him for today’s blog post.  As I look around my family room, and think about the family rooms of so many friends, it seems that perhaps we are indeed making progress on that dream.  But we still have far to go.  May we continue forward, fulfilling his dream and making it our own “In the Name of Love”!

* Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.

* Our scientific power has outrun our spiritual power. We have guided missiles and misguided men.

* Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.

* Only in the darkness can you see the stars.

* I submit to you that if a man has not discovered something that he will die for, he isn’t fit to live.

* I have a dream…little black boys & black girls will join hands with little white boys & white girls as sisters and brothers.

* Hatred paralyzes life; love releases it. Hatred confuses life; love harmonizes it. Hatred darkens life; love illuminates it.
